Very good pub food. Relaxed atmosphere, nice employees and good drinks. Prices are responsible. They make each order of guacamole to order and our chips were very warm. Wings and burger were made perfect.

Food was great. We both ordered burgers and they were very good, as were the fries. The server was attentive and friendly. The wait for the burgers was around a half hour, even though we were the only people seated at a table (bar was busy but not slammed). Prices were reasonable.
Bernie's is located downstairs in a basement, so it is dark and has no windows. It very much has a "clubhouse" feeling to it...almost like if a friend fixed up his basement and put a very large bar in it. You could tell it is appealing to locals because the bar was busy with people all talking across the bar to each other, so it's obvious they all know one other. Which is fine. Be prepared for them all to stare at you when you walk in, and to continue staring at you once you get to a table, since they're probably wondering who the hell you are. That is probably the most annoying part about bar regulars. They forget that their clubhouse is open to the public.
For a basement pub, this is probably more of a place to come if you feel like knocking back several drinks while you eat and linger for a couple more hours drinking. To me, it's that kind of place...lose track of time, come out and it's still daylight and you squint - or it's dark already. Oh yeah, and ZERO cell phone service here too! -

My co-workers and I go here all the the time for drinks after work. We prefer it because it is quiet, has great food and reasonable priced drinks, and is big enough to hold a decent group. I've stopped in for lunch multiple times besides the after hour adventures.
I always get the bacon cheeseburger, and almost everyone else goes with burgers. Bernie's appetizers are good and in decent portions instead of those tiny baskets some places give you. Beers are pretty cheap and plenty cold, and liquor is generous. The only thing that can be a little tough is the service if you don't go up to the bar. I've been there enough times to have gotten great service and meh service. If you're there for food only, you're fine. It's when you carry over from appetizers to food to drinking for a couple hours that it's just better to go to the bar to ask for things (that's a hard time for waiters to guess when to help you too).
The location is something I find to be part of the attraction. First, you walk down into it instead of being at ground level. This encourages me to not drink to the point where I can't exit the bar. Next, the underground location kills any and all cell phone signal. This is your prewarning - there is not one area in the bar that gets signal. I think that's perfect, because it cuts everyone off from checking emails/social media/etc and really gets people off their phones. Our group is in the tech field, so getting people to cut off the electronics for at least an hour is needed. Last, it's a very quiet and casual place. It lets us just hang out, have a few drinks, and talk without having to scream over music or other people.
I'm always a little confused why people don't really go here considering the quality of food/drinks and the cost, so I can only waive this off on the fact of it's odd location that keeps it a hidden gem. -

The only thing that sucked was the cellphone service! Delicious burger and fries. Great drinks! If you want to have a spectacular time go when the bartender Scotty is working. Very nice guy!

Popped in for lunch while passing through. Staff was friendly, food was fresh and hot. Southwest egg rolls were nummy!
